10 Best Bit Torrent Search Engines

best-torrent-search-engines.png

Torrents became the new face of P2P sharing a long time ago, when services like Kazaa, Ares and LimeWire had already lived their peaks. From what started as an experimental platform, BitTorrent has today become the giant that can bring you almost anything – anywhere. Be it movies, games, software programs, music, e-books and comics and what not; it’s hard to imagine not being able to find something in the torrent cloud. Most of the time, a missing item only means you’re not looking in the right place.

To address this very thought, we’ve put together a list of these rather useful torrent search engines that you can utilize to locate your cherished torrents. The websites presented below are just the author’s picks and are in no particular order. Continue reading after the break to find out more.

Best Torrent Search Engines #1. Torlock

torrent search engines

A relatively fresh entrant to torrent search engine scenario, people running Torlock are serious about what they’re doing. They claim to pay their users for identifying and reporting fake torrents to the community. While this is a highly beneficial service, my skepticism remains on the payment part (and I admit I haven’t used it myself yet). Nevertheless, if you’ve been struck with fakes quite often, Torlock might be worth taking a look at.

Best Torrent Search Engines #2. Kickass Torrents

torrent search engines

For regular downloaders, Kickass Torrents is nothing new. They established a reputation for their neat and tidy torrent search engine interface, easy to navigate website and an efficient comment system, identifying potentially fake and useless torrents with relative ease.

Best Torrent Search Engines #3. Demonoid

torrent search engines

Demonoid is arguably the best private torrent search engine and community to come in existence to date. For one, you don’t register for a Demonoid account yourself; you get invited. Then they take leeching very seriously, so if you’re in a habit of downloading only and not uploading, rest assured that they won’t keep you in very long.

Any torrent with Demonoid trackers is generally considered to be a good one.

Best Torrent Search Engines #4. CinemaTorrents

torrent search engines

While I’m personally not a fan, CinemaTorrents does offer one thing that others don’t, and that is the almost-entire IMDB built in. Go for a movie from CinemaTorrents and you’ll get all the IMDB rating, plot and user reviews right alongside it. Highly useful for movie buffs, but their torrent database is rather limited.

Best Torrent Search Engines #5. Torrent Tree

torrent search engines

While it isn’t a torrent search engine per se, this is a first torrent metasearch engine in this list so far. With a clean interface and somewhat fancy Ajax coding, Torrent Tree pulls results from several other hosting websites and presents in one consolidated list. It also informs you of what site a torrent has been picked from, just in case that matters. Worth checking out.

Best Torrent Search Engines #6. Blues Brothers

best torrent search engines

Another private torrent search engine and community, they’re not as strict as Demonoid but they have a rather unique way of dealing with leechers: donations. Your download/upload ratio falls below a certain level and you can rest assured that your account will get blocked until you donate. Unlike Demonoid, you can create an account here so that’s one easy point. Torrent quality is also good.

Best Torrent Search Engines #7. isoHunt

best torrent search engines

One of the best known websites in torrent-world, isoHunt has established an almost unparalleled reputation for the diversity of torrents it hosts. Despite legal issues, they continue to provide quality service, and their dedicated community likes to keep things fake-free. One issue with isoHunt is the rather-prevalent adult advertising, but the torrent quality remains sound and torrent search engine superb.

Best Torrent Search Engines #8. Fenopy

torrent search sites

Another torrent search engine boasting IMDB and last.fm integration, resultantly providing extensive information for discovering music and movies, combined with a rather catchy poster/graphic gallery. They offer a verified torrents section, so you may want to check that out, too.

Best Torrent Search Engines #9. Scrapetorrent

torrent search sites

Scrapetorrent is yet another torrent metasearch engine that pulls results from various websites. They have a neat design and close-to-none advertisements. Their donation mechanism is rather unique, urging you to purchase Scrapetorrent merchandise (t-shirts, in particular) to support the website.

Best Torrent Search Engines #10. VCDQ

torrent search site

VCDQ, the last item on my list, is not a torrent host or metasearch engine, by definition. It’s a community-driven project for verifying whether a torrent exists or not, especially for new movie releases. A torrent OK’d by VCDQ can be searched for on any metasearch engine.

This concludes my list for now. One point of clarification: my focus was mostly those torrent search engines that are perhaps not-as-well-known but still very useful. I skipped the most popular websites, but I’d recommend you check out these as well.

  • Torrentz.com – another torrent search engine that combs through numerous popular websites and pulls out the results
  • Piratebay – one of the most controversial and largest torrent search engine. You  can find almost anything here – literally.
  • Eztv.it – the best resource for TV shows, series and seasons. Must visit if you’re a TV show enthusiast.
