Aside from the regular Mario and Zelda games, there were a lot of great GameCube games, but because the Nintendo GameCube did not match up in popularity to Sony or Microsoft’s consoles, many of the great GameCube games did not enjoy the limelight they deserved. The Nintendo GameCube was by no means a slouch as a gaming console, but it did not enjoy much popularity in its days due to tougher competition from the big shots of the generation, the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox. The console was, however, successful in creating great franchises that Nintendo continues to use today and spawned many games that continue to get sequels to this date.
So, it is up to us to honor some of the greatest GameCube games that brought bundles of joy into certain lives but could not gain mass success or popularity. Here are the five best GameCube games you can get your hands on and no one has probably ever heard about them!
Great GameCube Games #1. Chibi-Robo!
This awesome GameCube game gives you, a tiny little robot, the task of cleaning a gigantic house, which would be an epic task in and of itself, but the game makes it interesting by spicing it up a little bit. As the robot runs of out juice in a little while, you have to constantly be on the lookout for power outlets to recharge.
Aside from the menial task of cleaning up the house, you have to defeat the evil Spydorz and save the family that is living in the house, along with all the toys in the house who come alive at night in a Toy Story-like fashion. The game is challenging, innovative and much like the Toy Story movies, it is quite touching. It might have skipped many gamers radar the first time around, but if you guys are looking for some retro fun, Chibi-Robo! is the game for you.

Great GameCube Games #2. Baten Kaitos
Baten Katios is from an era when Namco regularly made Japanese role-playing games, and somewhat a unique RPGs due to the fact that it casts the player in the role of a spirit guardian for the protagonist. That’s right, you do not get to play the hero in this game! Everyone talks directly to you as if you’re a character in the story. Also, as the guardian spirit, maintaining a positive relationship with the protagonist allows you to help him, particularly during combat, by allowing you to do special Spirit Attacks.
The game mechanics rely heavily on magical cards known called Magnus, which absorb the Magna essence of real-world objects for storage and later use. As one of the greatest GameCube games that got no love, Baten Kaitos is a unique one-of-a-kind gem buried in the desert, which once discovered, can show everyone that nothing can shine quite as brightly.

Great GameCube Games #3. P.N. 03
This top GameCube game is often mistaken for a poor man’s Devil May Cry even though it is also developed by Capcom, but this third-person shooting masterpiece is in fact much more than that. In reality, the essence of the game is much close to that of a shooter. Players step into the shoes of Vanessa Z. Schneider, a freelance mercenary who works on colonized planets and is contracted by a mysterious client to destroy a series of robots that have gone berserk.
Combat is where this great GameCube game really shines with its unique and innovative fighting mechanics and system. All robots in the game have set attack patterns with visual and audio cues that indicate their next attack and in order to dodge or avoid these attacks, Vanessa has a variety of evasive manoeuvres that travel fixed distances within the environment. In addition, you cannot move while attacking but the stages have terrain features that provide cover against enemy attacks. The game may not have enjoyed commercial success on par with the Devil May Cry series, but it did introduce some new game mechanics and features that are worth checking out.

Great GameCube Games #4. Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat is the game that essentially led to the creation of the Nintendo Wii because of its gimmicky controls, but didn’t see much success at the time of its release due to its high price point as it came bundled with the controls, which just happened to be a pair of bongo drums.
While the traditional GameCube controllers were compatible with the game, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat used the pair of bongo drums to control Donkey Kong’s actions. Hitting the left drum causes DK to move left, while hitting the right drum causes him to move right. Hitting both drums at the same time causes DK to jump. Clapping one’s hands or hitting the sides of the drums also causes DK to clap, which led to various consequences depending on the situation. The game was unique as it urged players to be creative instead of just striving to get to the end of a level and did so by requiring players to get a high number of beats, which could be obtained by getting more bananas and performing combos while getting the bananas.
So, gaming fans, get out those bongo drums, and get lost in the jungle beat with this awesome GameCube game!

Great GameCube Games #5. Eternal Darkness
This psychological horror action-adventure took player’s minds on a roller coaster ride with its dark environments and unsettling story, which give players a discomforting, unshakeable feeling of pure undiluted evil. Oh, and it also had one of the most awesome Nintendo logo intros of all time! The game is a cult classic because of its brilliant story, where you untangle a mystery that spans hundreds of years.
One of the most unique features about this game is that it also messes with the player’s minds. Sinister voices echo throughout the rooms as you cast spells in the game and as you worry about the character’s sanity, you own is tested as the game stops and gives you messages like missing saves files. Eternal Darkness is definitely worth a jump into the abyss that is its game world and what a wonderful fall it is.
