We all like to personalize our Android ringtones, right? We like to have the sound of our choice blare when our phone rings. We like a different sound to be made when different contacts call, too. All of these abilities have become second nature when it comes to our phone. Well, with the right Android app, we no longer have to just choose from the ringtones that have come with our phone.
That’s right, we can actually make our very own ringtones from MP3s or even record them from scratch. This list of 7 apps will help you to make ringtones for free on your Android and save you a bit of work scouring through the Android Market on your own. Check them out and see which one is your favorite.
Please note that several of them have the same or similar names but they are still different apps. Here they are in no particular order.
Ringtone Maker allows you to make ringtones for free and is the brainchild of Mobile17.com (a website that lets you use MP3s to make ringtones online). It gives you the option to choose MP3 edits from other users or to make your own from MP3s.
Ringtone Architect, in my opinion, has one of the best user interfaces among the other apps on this list. It also has several features that sets it apart. First of all, it offers the ability to fade in and fade out your ringtone, an ability that few apps offer. I also like how it shows a view of the whole of the sound file near the top while providing a closer look directly beneath it. It has good timing information throughout the UI and pretty graphics.
MP3 Ringtone Maker is another app that makes it possible to make ringtones for free from your MP3s. It also offers millions of free MP3 and sound-based ringtones for your perusal.
I’m going to mention the last four rather briefly because they seem so similar so there’s no point in going much further into it.
I believe that Ringdroid should be the app of choice when making Android ringtones. Abhigyan has written a detailed article all about how Ringdroid works and I think you’ll find many of the apps listed here work in a similar way.
I’m sure there are other apps to make ringtones for free on your Android. If you have a favorite, please share in the comments!
