In the past few weeks, several great Android games were released on the ever-growing Android platform. It seems that even the impending launch of the new iPhone did not deter developers from pushing out wonderful games for Android devices, showing the world once again that Apple’s box is not the only place for quality gaming titles and proving the superiority of Android yet again.
So, without further ado, let’s check out some new and awesome Android games you should not miss for any reason.
Great Android Games #1. Stardash ($1.99)
Although its hard difficulty level and ability to make you take a hammer to your phone might be a shock and a turn-off for some people, mostly casual gamers; Stardash’s retro graphics which are reminiscent of the classic Nintendo Gameboy, tight mechanics and similarity to games like Mario would make most fall in love with it on the first level.
The creators of Meganoid have outdone themselves yet again with this platformer, which breathes back life into the type of games where you jump on your enemies heads and collect coins. The short and quick levels provide a bit of relief from the high difficulty as you run through the levels to the tune of classic Gameboy-like music. Stardash is one of the recent great Android games on the market and the best if your device has a physical keyboard or a controller.
Great Android Games #2. A Game With Balls ($0.99)
The game could be termed as a mash-up between a physics game and an arcade shooter and is one of those rare games with gameplay adhering closely to the title. Your objective is to survive for as long as possible by using your cannon to fire at different shapes that come towards you. The shapes that act as your enemies deflect off the surface of each other depending on their colours and designs, with you using your cannon to either lead them off their collision course or fire at them with charged hits, all the while managing your ammunition. It is a great game to keep your hands busy if you’re bored.

Great Android Games #3. Pocket League Story ($4.99)
Kairosoft is undoubtedly one of the best developer of casual strategy games on the Android platform with great Android games like Game Dev Story, Grand Prix Story and Hot Springs Story. So, naturally, expectations would be high going into their next title.
The developers have seemingly took a step away from producing a unique title by putting out a great Android game based on managing a soccer team. A closer look reveals that they have indeed kept their unique brand of humour and gameplay in Pocket League Story, where you manage a soccer team while dealing with everything from substitutes, team formations and game strategy. The game, as with previous titles, will appeal to everyone and is not just made for soccer fans. The graphics are as great and as cute as ever and the humour still top notch. It’s a game that will keep you busy for hours on end and is the best strategy game released on the market in recent days.

Great Android Games #4. Airport Mania 2: Wild Trips ($1.00)
This is another unique strategy game in the fact that it has you managing an airport where you have to keep both the planes and the passengers punctual and happy. The second game in the Airport Mania series sticks tightly to the gameplay and mechanics of the first game, all the while expanding on some of the options available and making some improvement in the audio and visual departments. The game features the same cartoon-like look of the first game.
In case of the gameplay, you still have to manage everything in a timely manner and the expressions of the plane will let you know if you’re going a good job or a bad one. Although the gameplay is a bit too much like the first game, the improved visuals in this new Android game and a wider variety of airplanes and airports are enough of a reason to some back for more.

Great Android Games #5. Deflecticon ($1.23)
Deflecticon transports the classic Pong into a new dimension as you challenge computer opponents in a wire-frame 3D court, which will undoubtedly remind you of the environments in Tron. This new Android game is fast – faster than any Pong game you have ever played and the AI opponents step up their game each time you advance a level. The penalty for losing is going down a notch to face your last opponent, which gives you some incentive to take the game seriously and make some progress. Multiplayer is still in the works, but the game packs enough of a punch without it. Deflecticon is definitely worth every cent and every second of your time.
