How To Speed Up Boot Time With Soluto [Windows]

Using Windows can become frustrating when it takes forever to boot up. The Windows boot time is the time it takes from pressing the power button until the operating system is ready for use. If you are experiencing a slow startup or long windows boot time, this is likely because you have a whole bunch of programs that are set to load when your computer starts, many of which are totally unnecessary.

That’s where Soluto comes in. Soluto is a very simple application to help speed up boot time on your Windows PC. Sure, there are several ways of cutting back on what loads when you boot your computer but Soluto makes the whole process a snap.

Even installing Soluto is easy. Download it here, install it and you’re good to go. After installation, you’ll need to reboot your PC for it to analyse your Windows boot time and examine each element in detail.

Once your computer is booted back up, you’ll see the lower left-hand side of your desktop wallpaper pealed up and Soluto showing you progress as it reads which programs are loading and how long it takes for each of them.

Once your computer is totally booted, go ahead and open Soluto in order to begin trimming the fat off your Windows boot time. You’ll be given the main menu. Proceed to the “Chop Boot” menu item.

Removing apps from startup to speed up boot time

Soluto breaks down the applications that run during the booting process into three easy categories: no-brainers, potentially removable, and required (cannot be removed). Dragging over each application listing will give you more information about the application such as what it does, how long the boot time was and recommendations on whether you should remove it.

Here’s the list of “no-brainers” on my list:

I excluded a few of my no-brainer apps from starting up with Windows the after evaluating what they do and how much resources they take. For instance, I learned that Google Updater only takes 0.2 seconds of my Windows boot time but my computer uses it to automatically update any Google software I might have installed. Going to the ‘More’ tab will give you Soluto’s recommendation — which was to pause it because I’ll be notified of any updates anyhow, so really it doesn’t matter either way.

Speeding up boot time requires trial and error

The idea is to continue through all of the programs on this list and make an educated decision as to whether or not they are needed during the boot process. Removing some apps might speed up boot time but could also cause some problems when the system requires it and it hasn’t been loaded.

For each program, you’ll have three options: pause, delay or leave it to boot. Pausing it removes the application from the boot up list and essentially speeds up boot time. Delaying it allows the application to wait for the Windows boot process to complete before initiating – this essentially prolongs boot time but allows the boot process to be more efficient.

Once you’re done cutting back, reboot your computer again to see how much you’ve reduced the Windows boot time. It might take a few tries to cut the Windows boot time way down. All in all, Soluto makes the process very easy.

Soluto can do more

Soluto can also help you improve your web browser’s performance by helping you to track down unneeded and possible memory-intensive add-ons, toolbars, and plugins that you can remove.

On top of that, Soluto can also handle application crashes. It displays a little angel box with a brief explanation about the crash.

Sounds like your own personal IT guy, right? Only easier to understand. Soluto is a great solution to speed up boot time and diagnose crashes, along with reducing browser bloat. In my experience testing out Soluto, it was easy to setup, easy to run, and it produced noticeable results.

Have you tried Soluto? Have you noticed your Windows boot time increasing? What have you done to speed up your boot time? Tell us in the comments!
