The Hello Bar Adds a Notification Bar on Your Site, Is Super Easy To Update [INVITES]

hellobarintro

If you’re run a website or a blog or even a Tumblr microsite and want to point your visitors to a particular post or perhaps inform them of something important, there’s no easier way of doing it than using The Hello Bar.

How it works is super simple. You sign up for an account and log in. From the dashboard, you can create as many bars as you’d like. You can have one for every site/blog you run and have a central place to manage them easily. Take a look at the top of this site to see how it looks like.

So, after you create your first Hello Bar, you’ll need to add some content. Let’s say, for example, that you’re running a giveaway that’s already a few days old and pushed to the second page; the Hello Bar can help remind your readers that the giveaway is still going on. The bars are moderately customisable. I use “moderately” very cautiously because you’re only allowed to change the colours of the bar and text, and choose between serif and san serif font styles. But then again, the focus of The Hello Bar is ease-of-use and implementation — they definitely managed to get that part right.

The Hello Bar can also update itself dynamically by pushing an RSS feed through it. You can also update the bar via Twitter.

So once you have your Hello Bar all set up, you’ll need to add the code to your site. Doing that is easy as the walkthrough will prompt you to copy the Javascript code and paste it within the BODY section of your site’s HTML. This only needs to be done once. After you have the code in place, updating the bar can be done entirely within The Hello Bar’s dashboard.

The Hello Bar is still in private beta. Actually, you can sign up and wait for your request to be approved, which will take around a week or so. Or you can use one of the FIVE invitation codes that I have to spare.

NOTE: preference will be given to fans of our Facebook page and newsletter subscribers. So if you haven’t subscribed, do so now by clicking on this link.

  1. Hey, I did the steps. Any invites left? I thought I might try it out. I’ve tried another similar tool but this one looks better.

    • tim,

just curious, which is the other tool you were looking at? i want to take a look at all possibilities.

      • Sorry I missed your comment until now. In the past I’ve tried the WordPress pluging called Max Banner Ads. It works pretty good. I’m liking Hello Bar a lot more now though.

  2. Sure thing. I’ll send you one, Tim.

  3. Hey Jackson,

I was wondering what that pop-down menu is. The ease of implementation & content update / management make it even better. I have a couple of sites that could benefit from Hello Bar. Might I have one of the invites?

    Thanks!

    • Sure! I’ll send you one right now.

  4. I did the steps. Could I please have an invite?

    • You got it!
